Thoughts on Ace Attorney 5 Coming to the West as a Download Only Title Apparently, the upcoming Nintendo 3DS game, Ace Attorney 5 will be releasing on the eShop. No physical release.Capcom confirms that Ace Attorney 5 will be released in North America this fall. Now titled, Ace Attorney - Dual Destinies, the game marks the return of the Ace Attorney Phoenix Wright himself on the courtroom. Apollo Justice also returns to the series along with updated graphics, 3D locations, and the new heart scope system. What’s not coming is, well, a retail version of the game.+Christian Svensson stated the following in the Capcom forums as the reason for opting to go for the eShop:“Historically it’s been tough to attract long term retail support for Ace Attorney titles. With the release of Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney – Dual Destinies we wanted as many people as possible to be able to enjoy the game for as long as possible.”Capcom has not yet announced a price point for Ace Attorney - Dual Destinies. Will the price be the same as if it was released in retail? Or a slightly lower one? We’ll have to wait for that.Reaction TimeAs for me, I have not expected this at all. You know what, I was really expecting that Capcom will release Ace Attorney 5 BOTH on the 3DS and iOS devices. In that way, I think more people will purchase the game. And perhaps when they find out that more people buys on the 3DS, then perhaps they’ll release future titles on the device. The same can be said when sales are big on the iPhone. But of course, the 3DS is the logical choice. It looks like the game needs 3D to operate, especially during examination of murder locations, etc.But Capcom is a big company. They are not Atlus or XSeed (or Marvelous, the creator of Senran Kagura, I wrote about the topic of localization before) who can settle with less than 100,000 in sales. Capcom is big, hence their expenses are also big. They do not operate small. And I think, mass producing the game in retail will entail more cost that doing that on the eShop. When they released it there, they do not have to worry about all those stuff involved when distributing retail games. As for Ace Attorney fans out there such as myself, while it sucks that there won’t be a retail version of this game, we don’t have a choice. I am perfectly fine with the fact that I will be able to play another Ace Attorney game. This perfectly works for me. I hope the same goes for you. What are your thoughts about this one?  N-Handheds is both your Nintendo 3DS blog and Pokemon news source. Ace Attorney 5 Trailer Highlights HeartScope System and Crime Scene Investigations Heads up! A brand new Ace Attorney 5 trailer for the Nintendo 3DS appears from the wild featuring the game’s new heart scope system and how crime scenes are investigated in 3D. Actually, the trailer debuted at the 2nd Nico Nico Chou Kaigi event that happened in Japan. Check out the trailer below:     While the trailer briefly discussed the history of the Ace Attorney series, it proceeds immediately to a brief sneak peek of Ace Attorney 5. We saw some familiar faces. Phoenix is in blue coat. There’s Kidzuki Kokone, the unnamed character we mentioned before. Apollo Justice returns to the courtroom. Winston Payne’s younger brother also makes an appearance.Gameplay-wise, we saw brief how the heart scope system works. The player needs to point out the inconsistency between the witness’ testimony and his emotion. This suggests a contradiction that can be further pressed by Phoenix Wright. Also, were you able to see how the crime scene can be examined in different angles? I bet it can greatly make use of the 3DS’s 3D capability to display erring objects that can be the evidence we need to solve a trial. :)Ace Attorney 5 is coming to Japan this year on July 25, 2013. No release date was announced outside Japan, but it’s certain that the game will be localized in English. No word yet for Ace Attorney Investigations: Miles Edgeworth 2. Level-5 is also mum about the Ace Attorney vs Professor Layton Crossover game.Buy: Ace Attorney 5 on Play-Asia http://bit.ly/13FoyPl

Apollo Justice Returns in Ace Attorney 5 We never had so much Ace Attorney news for some time now. But when we do, it’s always a shock. I am very much in awe to find out that Apollo Justice will be in the upcoming Ace Attorney 5 game.Apollo Justice is the protagonist of the 4th Ace Attorney game. During that game’s timeline, Apollo was a rookie attorney in Phoenix Wright’s law office. That game’s story was all about Phoenix’s fall from grace. But it also centered upon Apollo’s growth as well. You can say that it’s not great than Trials and Tribulations, but Apollo’s game is my favorite in the series. It is.And now I’m happy that he’s back. But the picture above is what’s shocking for me. Yes, he still has that stern look in his face. His hair is still in gel. But now, Apollo also has a patch in his right eye. He has an overcoat and bandages. What happened? Was he caught in the explosion? Was he now a pirate? And the most interesting discussion I have seen in the Internet: Is Apollo Justice now a villain? That got me more excited than ever. Now we know why Ace Attorney 5’s official logo has the same color pallete as Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney. What are your thoughts? http://bit.ly/Xcodzz

Speaking with Gamasutra, this is what Andrew Szymanski (Global Production Team Manager) has to say:
“For Capcom, this year’s TGS booth is the largest we’ve ever had, and the largest booth on the floor at TGS, because that’s how much product we have to show off. And I love that we have LP3 and RE6, which are of course popular titles, but then you have Gyakuten Saiban, and mobile stuff.”
Looking at how the Tokyo Game Show will continue in the future, he thinks, though, that the event will only be relevant to Japan in the coming years and will not be the place to show things relevant to the industry in the worldwide scale.

The Phoenix you saw in Apollo Justice was 33 years old, and this game takes place a year afterward — he’s back as a lawyer, and he brings a much more mature facade to his work. His design in the game tries to reflect this growth; he’s got a vest on, he’s unbuttoned his jacket, and overall he looks like he’s a lot more comfortable up there.
